Gain 15-20 FPS In All Games | Boost Your PC For Gaming

Gaming industry is one of the biggest markets of the world today. There are 2.2 billion gamers out of 7.8 billion people. But there are still a few people who can't play games because their PC is too old/slow or the games are too modern. In this article, I'm going to tell you 10 steps which will help you increase up to 15 FPS in games on your low end PC.
See a video tutorial here.

Boost your PC for gaming:
  1. Tweaking your graphics card control panel
  2. Changing Power Plan
  3. Reducing Visual effects and Animations
  4. Cleaning system files with Disk Cleanup
  5. Optimizing/Defragmenting Your Drives
  6. Turning off Hibernation
  7. Disabling Startup Programs
  8. Deleting/Uninstalling Unnecessary Files
  9. Using a third-party cleanup software
  10. Using a game booster

1. Tweaking your graphics card control panel:
By default, your graphics card's settings are set to balanced mode (your PC will perform slow, your PC's power consumption will be low) which is not quite right for gaming. You'll have to change your graphics card settings to "Maximum Performance" which makes your PC really fast. To to this, click on the graphics card you have from the list below:
If you didn't find your graphics card from the list, search on Google/YouTube for this:

2. Changing Power Plan:
  1. Search for Control Panel and open it.

  2. In the control panel, search for "Power Options" and click on it.

  3. Change your power plan to "High Performance" and close the control panel.

3. Reducing Visual effects and Animations:
  1. Open file explorer.

  2. Right click on "Computer" and click on "Properties".

  3. Click on "Advanced system settings" at the left side of your screen.

  4. Under "Performance", click on "Settings" button.

  5. Click on "Adjust for best performance" radio button and click on "Apply" button.

4. Cleaning system files with Disk Cleanup:
  1. Search for "Disk Cleanup", right-click on it and click on "Run as administrator".

  2. It will take some time to analyze junk files on your PC. After its completed, a window will appear. Check all the boxes and click on "OK" button. If it asks for a confirmation, click on "Delete Files".
It may take some time to delete junk files. So you'll have to wait!

5. Optimizing/Defragmenting Your Drives:
  1. Open "Windows File Explorer".

  2. Right-click on your C: drive and click on "Properties".

  3. Go to "Tools" tab. Under "Defragmentation", click on "Defragment now..." button.

  4. Disk Defragmenter window will appear. Select C: Drive and click on "Analyze disks" button.

  5. After analyzation process has been completed, select the drive you analyzed and click on "Defragment disk" button.

Defragmentation process can take up to an hour. So you'll have to wait!

6. Turning off Hibernation:
This process will temporary disable your hibernation, which can speed up your computer and will free up some space on your C: drive.
  1. Search for "CMD" and run it as administrator.

  2. Type in "powercfg.exe /hibernate off" without quotations and hit enter.

To turn on hibernation again, type "powercfg.exe /hibernate on" without quotation in CMD.
By using this method, I saved 3 GB.

7. Disabling Startup Programs:

  1. Search for "msconfig" and click on it.

  2. Click on "Startup" tab and uncheck any program that is not necessary to run in background when Windows starts. WARNING: DON'T UNCHECK ANY PROGRAM YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT. IT COULD BE YOUR DRIVER OR ANTIVIRUS!

  3. After that, just click on "OK" button. It'll ask you to restart your computer so restart your computer.

8. Deleting/Uninstalling Unnecessary Files:
Sometimes your PC gets slow because your drives have not enough storage left. To get rid of this problem, you should delete any unnecessary file that you no longer want. Like if you downloaded a program & installed it, delete it's setup files. Watched a movie then delete it. Or If you no longer use a program, uninstall it!
To uninstall a program, follow the given steps:

  1. Search for "Control Panel" and open it.

  2. In control panel, search for "Programs and Features".

  3. Here, double click on any program you want to uninstall. It may ask you for a confirmation so click on "Yes".

9. Using a third-party cleanup software:
For this, I use Avast Cleanup. It's not free but you can look for a free license key (I HAVE DONE THE SAME). It has many features like it can free up some additional space, it can put background programs to sleep which really helps you to boost fps, you can look for errors in disks and fix them with one restart, etc. You can also use CCleaner or AVG Tuneup as alternatives. But I say that Avast Cleanup is the best.

10. Using a game booster:
Game boosters are programs that allow you to run your game after they free up RAM by closing background programs and when you exit your game, they restore your background programs. They are really useful to boost fps. The top 3 game boosters that I personally like are Razer Cortex, Game Fire 6 & Wise Game Booster. And the best thing about them is they are free! Although purchases are available for them.
They are really easy to use, just download one of the game booster (Razer Cortex is recommended) and install it. It will automatically show your installed games, just click on the game you want to run, it'll free up your RAM and run the game. You'll see a huge difference in fps with and without game booster!
